Financial Life Planning

Financial life planning brings together technical expertise and the human touch to create a solution tailored towards your overall life goals. We help create your vision for life and look at any obstacles that may get in the way of achieving your overall goals.

Our process starts with understanding where you have come from with regards to your habits, attitudes and relationship to money. We invite clients to engage with a number of tools to uncover their unconscious patterns and behaviours around money. Click on the link to complete Your Money Archetypes Quiz. Your money archetypes are not your personality or “who you are”, but are symbolic metaphors that help us to understand your patterns and behaviors. Simply stated, they show us “where we are” so that we can become aware of, and change our unconscious behaviors. Archetypes are powerful “teachers” and “allies” since they inform us of areas we need to grow.

The Money Mechanics philosophy is to work in conjunction with you and any of your other professional advisers (which may include your accountant, estate planning specialist, risk specialist). This collaboration ensures we address your needs though the most appropriate mechanisms and explore, develop and tailor an appropriate strategic solution.

One-off strategic advice - this may be as simple as a meeting between you and Money Mechanics. (More complex requirements may be covered in two or more meetings involving you, Money Mechanics and/or your other advisers).

Ongoing strategic advice – this service entails regular reviews of your life goals and financial strategies to ensure they are focused on achieving your desired outcomes.

Our focus is always the same, to allow you to feel empowered and in control of your financial matters with minimum worry.

Superannuation

Superannuation is a taxation strategy to provide a lifetime retirement and investment solution. Your superannuation plan could include many aspects including retail, industry, public sector defined benefits or accumulation plans and self managed superannuation funds (SMSF).

Each type of superannuation plan has its advantages, disadvantages and different strategy options. Money Mechanics can assist you in developing an appropriate superannuation plan to suit your needs.

This may include an investment strategy to protect and build your wealth within superannuation, including technical taxation strategies and tailored self managed superannuation fund strategies.

Wealth Creation

Creating wealth for a financial goal can be as simple as constructing a short-term saving plan for a proposed holiday or a deposit on the purchase of your first home. Too more complex goals like early repayment of a mortgage.

Money Mechanics can assist you in planning for these events and tailor an appropriate solution in a tax effective manner. A comprehensive wealth creation plan may include strategies focusing on:

  • Salary sacrifice
  • Borrowing to invest into property or shares
  • Regular savings
  • Capital protection
  • Alternative products
  • Taxation management

Back Up Plan

Having a back up plan is an important aspect when it comes to planning for your life and the unexpected events. Your back up plan includes the areas of estate planning and risk management planning or insurance.

A properly considered back up plan involves the following aspects:

  • Your Will: is the central part of any estate plan. It sets out how you want your assets to be distributed.
  • Power of Attorney: operates in circumstances before death where you may be suffering from either a temporary or permanent legal disability and are unable to make decisions for yourself.
  • Testamentary Trust: can be used in conjunction with a will to provide for ongoing control of your assets after death. It may be used when there is a concern that the assets are at risk particularly important for blended families, divorce or legal proceedings involving your children.
  • Your Risk Management Plan: General and life insurances are important for you and your family if the worst happens. Lump sum or income replacement insurances can provide for you or your family if the worst happens and is a crucial part of your overall back up plan if you do not have enough asset to self insure.

It isn’t nice to go to the topic of death, disability or loss however it is important to have the discussion with your family members, partner and professional advisers.

Money Mechanics can assist you in planning for the unexpected so you can get on with the good things in life.
